North Carolina Car Shipping Advice

  • Remove any exterior items that are not “stock” from your vehicle prior to shipping. This means taking off things like bicycle racks, extended mirrors, and other items that you have added. This will ensure the safety of your vehicle, and others, and will cut down on the time to load your vehicle.
  • Find out about the weather before you get your vehicle delivered. If you haven’t been to North Carolina before, or wherever your destination may be, you should take the time to do a quick search to find out if anything special will be required. Will it be freezing cold? Raining? Make sure you, and your car, are prepared – appropriate clothes and full washer fluid tank for example. A small problem with the weather can turn into a real headache quickly.

Once you are ready to ship your car with Cobalt, call us toll free for your free fast quote at 855-242-8090 or visit the website to submit a quote request form: http://cobaltautoservices.com/auto-shipping-quotes/. We look forward to helping you with your next vehicle shipment!

New Mexico has a lot to offer, from the beautiful landscapes to great cities full of exciting adventures just waiting to happen. However, be sure to get yourself prepared for your trip in order to make the most out of it:

Tips For Shipping To New Mexico

  • Plan ahead for weather – have you been to NM before? Do you know what the weather will be like this season? If you’re not sure, it will pay off to do some research ahead of time and figure out what it might be like. Getting your vehicle prepared ahead of time will let you get going right when you get into town instead of having to find a shop to take care of things – which can be a real hassle in a new area.
  • Do you know what the roads will be like in the new area? Be sure to know what the conditions are like – will you need new or different tires? These seemingly small things can make a big difference.
  • Remove personal items before shipping. No matter where you are getting your car, truck, or motorcycle shipped to, be sure to take out all personal belongings prior to having your vehicle picked up.

When you are ready to go, call us toll free at 855-242-8090 for your free quote, or visit the website and submit our fast free web quote form: http://cobaltautoservices.com/auto-shipping-quotes/

U.S. recalls may climb this year says car safety chief

Although everyone thought that 2014 was a rough year for vehicle recalls and safety issues, it looks like the number is set to climb higher in 2015.

At first glance this may seem like a bad problem, but it could indicate that the system is in fact working better and is catching more issues than before. Although not entirely a great outlook it remains to be seen what the year will bring:

http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/01/07/us-usa-rosekind-takata-idUSKBN0KG03Q20150107Recalls of air bags and ignition switches last year contributed to an increase in the number of consumers with car safety concerns, said Mark Rosekind, head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

While the auto safety agency may get about 45,000 consumer complaints a year, Rosekind estimated there were about 75,000 in 2014.

“I would expect that we will actually see an increase in recalls” this year, Rosekind told a group of reporters in his first media interview since taking over the agency in mid-December. “This is one of those cases where more recalls could actually mean the system is working better.”

NHTSA has been accused of acting too slowly to prevent dangers involving Takata Corp air bags and General Motors Co ignition switches, and Rosekind said he must turn the agency around – fast.

“I got a couple years, max,” said Rosekind, who was appointed by President Barack Obama whose term ends in January 2017. “The defect recall system – we just got to address that.”

Rosekind, a former academic and specialist on managing fatigue, spent the past four years as a member of the National Transportation Safety Board, which investigates major transportation accidents.

The agency he now leads has come under fire for its years-long, halting response to concerns that defective Takata air bags were rupturing upon deployment and spraying metal shards into cars – a flaw linked to at least five deaths.

Takata has resisted a national recall, though Honda Motor Co Ltd , Toyota Motor Corp and other carmakers have gone ahead with them. The agency has expressed dissatisfaction with Takata’s response on the issue so far. U.S. recalls may climb this year says car safety chief| Reuters

New Federal Auto Safety Chief Addresses Recall, Defective Equipment Questions

The new TSA chief has been on the job for several weeks now and has a few things to get off of his chest. Apparently he knew that he was taking over a department that had a lack of financial support and was under staffed, but it appears that he did not realize how bad things were. Now, after taking stock of the situation, he has a few items that will need to be cleared up before he believes that the agency can do its job properly:

http://www.claimsjournal.com/news/national/2015/01/14/260163.htmMark Rosekind, the U.S. government’s new auto safety chief, knew all along that the agency he was taking over lacked resources and staff to do its job properly.

But after a week on the job, Rosekind says he discovered the shortages are much worse than he thought.

Rosekind, 59, who leads the beleaguered National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, said Monday that solutions include more people and money, as well as better processes and innovation.

A human fatigue expert and former member of the National Transportation Safety Board, Rosekind spoke with reporters at the Detroit auto show. He says the agency got 75,000 safety complaints from the public last year, up from 45,000 in 2013. Yet it has just nine people to review the complaints and only 16 people to investigate when a problem is discovered.

Q: NHTSA didn’t act on General Motors’ defective ignition switches or exploding Takata airbags until after people were killed. What will you do to make sure that doesn’t happen again?

A: We’re looking at taking action in three areas: People, technology and our authority to deal with this. We’re already looking at the budget for 2016. We’re trying to make sure the Office of Defects Investigations has other things there. I don’t want to get into it, but our staff has proposed two new divisions and more money for a whole bunch of people, all focused on how to make sure we’re better at doing that job. The agency also supports raising the maximum fine for automakers that hide safety problems from $35 million to $300 million. Nevada Car Shipping Tips

  • Protect your interior – if you have covers you can use them to protect the upholstery during a shipment. This will help your interior remain nicer for years to come. If you do not have covers you can still use an interior protectant product like Armor All and wipe down surfaces – this will help protect against things like UV sun damage.
  • Get your car fixed before shipping. While we can, and do, move vehicles that do not run, if you have any small mechanical issues you should get them taken care of before you have your car or truck moved – showing up and having issues can be a real hassle.
