Child Car Seat Safety Demonstrations Held Today at Kmart by ESMC and OHS

Car safety is such an important topic and the holidays make it even more so. Why?

Think of the elevated number of drivers on the road during the holidays and the number of families driving about. It’s a good thing that Kmart is helping out by having the OHS people instruct shoppers and others in the correct way to install and use child seats, among other safety related topics:

That’s why the Emergency Medical Services for Children program and the Office of Highway Safety are there to help parents out.

EMSC Administrator Marlene Carbullido says, “We want to encourage families to make sure they transport their children in the safest way possible especially during the holidays.”

They partnered up to reach out and inform the community about why child car seat safety is important. Both EMSC and OHS were at Kmart earlier today giving car seat demonstrations and handing out pamphlets with helpful information to families.

They tell us what to look out for to make sure your precious cargo is safe in the car.

OHS Child Passenger Safety Instructor Therese Matanane says, “The harness strap here should be tight enough where you can’t pinch it. The retainer clip should be in the armpit level which is right there. The safest place to install a child restraint is in the back seat. Always read the vehicle manual because it has the information as to where the safest place to install the seat in that vehicle.” Child Car Seat Safety Demonstrations Held Today at Kmart by ESMC and OHS
